How it Works

The GPS Locator V1 offers real-time location data without any need for a sim card or a mobile phone. Using the Sigfox network, a lowcost, low-powered connectivity solution, removes the need for mobile phone or SIM card.

Send up to 5 types of alerts using the alert button configurable through the Portwest Worker Safety Portal. Automatic alerts can be configured based on movement and geofencing - users can establish a virtual boundary within a zone that will trigger an alert when the device is moved in or out of a designated area. When the alert button is used by the wearer or the device moves outside the designated area a signal is sent which then triggers an email alert to a designated person.

Real-time reporting and analytics are available via the Portwest Digital Worker Portal connect.portwest.com, easily incorporated into your company database this offers a wealth of instant information.

The long battery life can last from several months to a year depending on usage. When the battery runs low, the device sends an alert to be recharged and can be charged via USB connection.

Key Features:

1. Safety Alerts

Built in alert button allows workers to raise the alarm if injured or in danger. Up to 5 types of alerts can be configured, allowing the worker to update the employer on current job status, arrival to site or job completions for example. Additional automatic alerts can be configured based on movement and geofencing.

2. Location Data

Using GPS technology location information is tracked at all times. Location information is automatically sent in safety alerts, ensuring faster response time if in danger and ensuring complete visibility of the whereabouts of the lone worker.

3. GEO Fencing

This feature allows the worker or employer to establish a virtual boundary which triggers an alert if the device is moved in or out of the mapped area. This is an excellent feature for workers working within specific regions or areas.

4. Long Battery Life

The battery can last from several months to a year depending on usage, meaning the worker doesn’t have to worry about recharging regularly. When the battery then runs low, an email alert is sent to notify the worker to recharge the device.

5. No Need for Mobile

The device operates from Sigfox Network, a standalone, a low-powered connectivity solution that does not rely on mobile or 3G satellite connectivity for signal. Unlike mobile or 3G signals, booster modems can be installed to enhance connectivity in lower signal areas.

6. Digital Portal

Workers can log in to the Portwest Digital Lone Worker Safety Portal and access a wealth of instant information. Location data is automatically sent to the portal, allowing workers to access activity reports. This is useful when looking to identify areas covered by the worker.
